Attended a Bariatric Surgery open evening at Derby Royal Hospital and Mr Awad was really informative on the different types of weight loss surgery, without being pushy or judgemental. I decided to go ahead with a consultation and ultimately booked in for Gastric Sleeve Surgery. My Surgery day was scheduled quickly – again I felt very informed of the process by Mr Awad. The Surgery itself was fine and I wasn’t in too much discomfort afterwards, Mr Awad checked up on me after surgery and before I was discharged and checked I had all the information I needed. 6 days following my surgery I contracted norovirus from my brother and was re-admitted to Derby Royal Hospital. Although this was unrelated to the surgery Mr Awad came to see me and consulted on my care to ensure everything was ok with the sleeve. I really appreciated this re-assurance and made a swift recovery. in regards to recovery from the Sleeve surgery, I felt a bit rough for a day or two but then felt really well. Overall I feel I made a great recovery due to the expertise of Mr Awad and the team he surrounds himself with. In regards to weight I have lost 11kg in the 6 weeks since surgery – very pleased!! I would really recommended having a consultation with Mr Awad, or attending an open evening if you are considering weight loss surgery.
